cGaming Supports the Down Syndrome Association of Peterborough

Thursday, September 24, 2020

The Down Syndrome Association of Peterborough (DSP) services individuals and families of someone who has Down syndrome within the Peterborough area, Northumberland County, and Kawartha Lakes. DSP provides services and supports over seventy families.

DSP is very thankful to cGaming for providing it with an opportunity to earn vital funds to support their programs. This money share is extremely important to their program and assists many individuals in continuing to strengthen their social connections and social/life skills in general. These skills are essential to becoming integrated within the community, and to member's individual success.

Weekly (pre-COVID), DSP would facilitate social programming such as karate, breakdancing, dinner and dance, music, drama, art, movies, and many other fantastic programs. These programs are staff supported and are an essential part, in not only teaching and reinforcing social skills; but also providing families/parents with structured safe, and supported respite.

People with Down syndrome learn best when provided extra learning opportunities; as well as concrete learning. These programs are invaluable to DSP members! Members look forward each week to not only seeing their friends, but also in taking part and having fun in these exciting programs. DSP would not be able to provide these kinds of supports without the support from cGaming!
