On November 7th and 8th, 2023, members of the charitable gaming industry came together to learn, share, and celebrate at the annual Charitable Gaming Conference. Jointly hosted by the OCGA and Commercial Gaming Association Ontario (CGAO), it provided the sector with the opportunity to hear about the tremendous successes in the industry post-pandemic.
We were thrilled to have hosted Dr. Karin Schnarr, in her first speaking engagement in her role as CEO and Registrar with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. Attendees also heard from Robert Poirier, Board Member, Ontario Lottery and Gaming, Duncan Hanney, CEO, Ontario Lottery and Gaming, and Dave Forestell, Chair, Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. We extend our thanks to these individuals for taking the time to join us, and for their continued support of our industry.
The underlying theme of the event was the importance of collaboration. Our achievements over the last year would not be possible without the contributions of all stakeholders; OLG, AGCO, OCGA, CGAO, commercial operators, charity coordinators and Associations, and their members and volunteers.
Lucas Froese gave an enlightening presentation from CanadaHelps, highlighting the current landscape and resourcing barriers that charities across the province are experiencing, and how Ontarians can support these organizations through these challenges. We heard from the team at OCGA about the extensive work they have done to expand both awareness and understanding of the successes of charitable gaming in 2023. Sessions focused on iGaming, e-Raffles, Compliance, and investments across the sector gave insight into the continued evolution of our industry.
